Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) has emerged as a transformative technology in education, revolutionizing learning by seamlessly integrating digital information into physical environments. As a key tool for Industry 4.0, AR facilitates immersive training in industrial robotics, enhancing both safety and technical skills. This study presents the development of an AR platform designed to teach concepts of robotic manipulators
to engineering students. The platform offers interactive 3D visualizations of joint configurations, degrees of freedom (DoF), kinematic models, as well as safety and critical workspaces. A quasi-experimental study, including assessments before and after the intervention (n=60) and surveys, was conducted at Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas ESPE. The results demonstrate 85% user acceptance and a 40% improvement
in test scores compared to traditional teaching methods, confirming the effectiveness of AR in technical education.
